- Albion 2 - 2
Bishop Auckland
-
- This was another hard-fought point
for Albion. The injury crisis at the club has meant that several players
have been playing when perhaps they should not have been. Bishop
Auckland looked a strong and physical side but their forwards were quick
on the break. Early in the first half Albion blocked an attack and the
ball rebounded to a Bishop Auckland player who struck a fierce shot
through a crowd of players and Mick Clark in the Albion goal had no
chance. As usual when Albion go behind they start to play and this was
the case tonight. Adam Fretwell sent a probing free-kick into the
Bishop Auckland box and debutant Gareth Naylor was far too quick for the
defence as he nipped in to score an impressive goal and put Albion back
on level terms just 4 minutes after going behind. Bishop Auckland
continued to look dangerous each time they attacked, but Albion were
also creating some good chances of their own, but at the interval the
teams went in with the score still 1-1.
- The second half produced some good
chances from both sides, but it was Bishop Auckland who took the lead
again when a looping shot dropped into the Albion net. Again Albion
responded well and somehow the ball was kept out of the Bishop Auckland
net on several occasions either by the posts or by players clearing off
the goal-line. To be fair Bishop Auckland also had a shot which
rebounded from the Albion post and they continued to look dangerous on
the break. In the end Albion were rewarded for all their efforts when a
Danny Toronczak shot was deflected past the goalkeeper and into the
Bishop Auckland net.
- An impressive performance from
Adam Fretwell who continued to drive Albion forward and it was good to
see Rob Edwards come on for the last 20 minutes after his absence
through injury
