- Albion 1 - 2
Kendal Town
-
- A battling performance from an
Albion side that looked low in confidence after their recent run of bad
results saw them unlucky to come out of this match without any points.
They started well and created some good chances before Kendal took the
lead with a very fortunate shot/cross which seemed to be going well over
the top but somehow dropped into the Albion net.
- In spite of this set-back, Albion
picked themselves up and continued to play some good football and
created more good chances. Some of these seemed to be easier to score
than to miss, but miss them the Albion players did and so they
went in at the interval a goal down.
- The second half carried on in much
the same way with Albion desperately trying to find a way back into the
game. Twenty minutes from time Kendal were reduced to 10 men when one of
their players saw fit to verbally abuse the referee's assistant and was
deservedly sent off.
- Albion continued to press but were
unable to make their advantage pay. As the match neared the end Albion
committed more and more players into the attack leaving gaps at the
back, and this was exploited when Lee Ashcroft scored a second goal for
Kendal. Albion still didn't give up and finally got a last minute
consolation goal from Mark Townsend who never stopped running all
afternoon. Unfortunately it came too late to make any difference to the
result. Good performances for Albion also came from Dominic Riordan,
Nick Handley and David Syers.
