- A poor and disjointed performance saw
Albion really struggling to contain a lively Kendal side. Albion somehow
survived the first quarter of an hour but then they were caught out yet
again by a far-post header from Ricky Mercer which they failed to
defend. No sooner had the game restarted when an Albion attack was
swiftly turned into another goal for Kendal when some slack marking
allowed Stuart Cliff to stroll through the defence to score a second for
Kendal.
- Albion looked shell-shocked but
gradually began to play some football and were looking to compete when
Kendal struck again with 2 goals in the space of 2 minutes from their 2
main danger men Kenny Mayers and Lee Ashcroft. This really floored
Albion and they were glad to survive to the interval without giving any
more goals away.
- In the second half Kendal eased off
which allowed Albion to edge back into the game. Having said that it was
only in the last 15 minutes of the game when Albion looked to have any
chance of scoring, and even then they were denied by some good
goalkeeping and by the post.
- Throughout the match Dominic Riordan
looked impressive for Albion as did Adam Fretwell before he had to go
off injured just before the interval. It is true that Albion have a lot
of first-team players missing through injuries and suspensions but thank
goodness for the enthusiasm and constant running of the young players in
the squad without which they would have been completely overrun.
