- Albion 2 - 2
Worksop Town
-
- Albion performed well against a strong
Worksop team in this their first friendly match. New signing Rob
Edwards, the ex-Huddersfield Town Skipper, looked to be an excellent
acquisition and he should have a great effect on the players around him
as the season goes on. Dave Dickinson looked sharp up front and it was
he who opened the scoring with a well-struck penalty in the 15th minute,
hitting the ball hard and low to the goalkeeper's left. Albion competed
well and struck again just before the interval when Mick Senior tucked
the ball away after being put in by Sean Hazelden.
- In the second half, Worksop worked hard
to get back into the match and were rewarded with a goal 5 minutes after
the restart. Shortly after this Albion made a double substitution,
bringing on Brice and Mark Townsend to replace Mick Senior and Guy Dodd.
Worksop continued to press and managed to get an equaliser with 10
minutes left. Albion made further substitutions, bringing on Mark
Mierzwinski for Andy Farrell and Scott Fulton for Gary Duffty.
- Both sides had chances to win the match,
but in the end everyone seemed happy to settle for the
draw.
